Resistance Conditioning can be fundamental to any racehorse training program. Development of strength, stamina, lean muscle mass, bone density and healthy connective tissue all relate directly to work with Resistance. Training the athlete with resistance benefits all of the above, especially when you add concentrations of easily digestible proteins and carbohydrates. Progressive overload with bursts of work and intervals of relaxation is proven to improve results.
There are libraries full of information on training the human athlete with resistance. Part of our job is to determine how much of that relates to equine exercise physiology. Tests repeatedly show the safety and effectiveness that implementing progressively more intense workout programs using resistance while monitoring bpm will help achieve peak performance.
